On Monday, Health and Family Welfare Minister Mukesh Mahaling told the state parliament that 134,436 cases of malaria had been reported in Odisha during the last three years.
Responding to a question from Champua MLA Sanatan Mahakud, Minister Mahaling gave the state’s malaria case breakdown for 2022-2024.
In 2022, there were 23,770 documented cases, five of which were fatal. According to preliminary data, there were 68,693 cases and 6 fatalities in 2024, an increase from 41,973 cases and 4 fatalities in 2023.
