OPSC Civil Service New Pattern, Total Marks 2000

Cuttack : Odisha Civil Services (OCS) exam can be given in odia language. Candidates who want to take all the subjects can take the exam in Odia. Also, the candidates who want can take the exam in the English language. The interview will also be conducted both in Odia and English. This decision was taken in an important meeting of the state cabinet on Friday.Ā 

The State Government has amended the Odisha Civil Services (Combined Committee Recruitment Examination) Rules-1991 and implemented the Odisha Civil Services Rules-2022. As per current procedure, candidates answer only in English language. Besides, the interview is also conducted in English.  Now the above changes have been made. Candidates who wish to interview in English can mention it at the time of application.

Chief Secretary Suresh Chandra Mohapatra said after the meeting that the state government has taken this decision to develop the Odia language and to create interest in the civil services examination of rural children. Also, there will be no more 2 optional subjects for the examination. Candidates will choose only one optional subject. The Cabinet has approved several proposed amendments to the Civil Services Examination. In Odisha Civil Service Exam, there were a total of 2250 marks. This has been corrected. Including the interview, a total 2000 marks will be tested. There will be 1750 marks for the written test and 250 marks for the interview. English essay writing was previously compulsory in this exam. It has now been amended. Candidates can write one essay of 250 marks in either English or Odia.

Good news also for General Category and Socially and Economically Backward Category (SEBC) candidates appearing for this exam. The state government has opened the opportunity to conduct the examination for these two categories of candidates. Part 3-2 is also about the number of times the prospective candidates of this category can take the exam

The rules have also been amended regarding the number of times the prospective candidates of this category can take the exam.Ā  Previously, candidates belonging to unreserved category (UR) were given 4 opportunities to appear for the examination. Now candidates of this category can take the exam 6 times. Similarly, SEBC candidates gave the exam 7 times. Now you can give 9 times. SC/ST category aspirants can take this exam as many times as before.Ā
