Over 95% Voter Coverage Achieved in Bihar’s Draft Electoral Roll: ECI Intensifies Final Phase

Published on

The Election Commission of India (ECI) announced that 95.92% of eligible voters have been successfully covered in the draft Electoral Roll as part of the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process in Bihar. With six days remaining to fill out Enumeration Forms, efforts are being scaled up to include nearly 32 lakh remaining electors.

BLOs Mobilized for Final Push

To close the gap, Booth Level Officers (BLOs) have begun another round of outreach visits aimed at contacting unlisted voters. The ECI confirmed that over 7.15 crore enumeration forms have already been collected across Bihar under the SIR campaign, reflecting an extensive data collection effort.

Efforts to Ensure Accurate and Inclusive Voter List

According to the Election Commission, 1.81% of electors have been marked as deceased, 2.5% have permanently shifted from their registered addresses, and 5.27% could not be found at the given addresses. The Commission emphasized its commitment to including every eligible voter in the final list.

Outreach to Migrant Electors and Urban Areas

Special efforts are being made to reach out to electors who have temporarily moved out of Bihar. Communication through multiple channels is being used to encourage these voters to register. Additionally, the ECI has established special camps in all 5,683 wards across 261 Urban Local Bodies in the state to facilitate urban voter registration.

The Commission reiterated its aim to ensure maximum voter inclusion and accuracy in the electoral roll ahead of upcoming elections.
