Pahalgam Terror Attack: NIA Arrests Two for Sheltering Lashkar Terrorists

Published on

New Delhi: In a significant development in the investigation into the recent terror attack in Pahalgam, the National Investigation Agency (NIA) has arrested two individuals accused of harbouring terrorists involved in the attack.

Accused Identified as Parvaiz and Bashir Jothar

According to an official NIA statement, the arrested men have been identified as Parvaiz Ahmad Jothar of Batkote and Bashir Ahmad Jothar of Hill Park, Pahalgam. The agency revealed that during interrogation, both disclosed the identities of three terrorists, confirming that they were Pakistani nationals affiliated with the banned group Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT).

Provided Shelter and Logistical Support Before the Attack

The NIA stated that the two men had knowingly sheltered the terrorists in a seasonal hut at Hill Park, just ahead of the attack. Investigations revealed that the accused provided the militants with food, shelter, and logistical assistance, enabling them to carry out the assault.

Booked Under Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act

The duo has been booked under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), a key anti-terror legislation. The arrests mark a major breakthrough in the case, as authorities continue efforts to dismantle terror networks operating within Jammu and Kashmir.
