Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir Warns India: “Our Weapons Can Shatter India’s Geographical Immunity”

Published on

In a provocative statement that has raised tensions across South Asia, Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir has warned that Pakistan’s growing military capabilities could “shatter the misconceived immunity of India’s geographical warspace.” Speaking at the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA) in Kakul, Munir’s remarks mark a fresh escalation in rhetoric between the two nuclear-armed neighbors, coinciding with Pakistan’s ongoing airstrikes in Afghanistan that have drawn global criticism.

Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir Warns India of Decisive Retaliation

Addressing graduating cadets, Munir claimed that while there is “no space for war in a nuclearized environment,” any “minor provocation” from India would be met with a “decisive and disproportionate response.” He added that the evolving nature of warfare has blurred the lines between combat and communication zones, asserting that Pakistan’s weapon systems have the reach and precision to destroy India’s perceived geographical advantage.

Asim Munir’s Warning to India Adds to Regional Tensions

Munir’s statement, that Pakistan’s response would go “beyond expectations of the initiators,” came with a warning of “deeply hurting retributive military and economic losses.” He blamed India for destabilizing Pakistan through terrorism and accused New Delhi of using “proxy groups” to incite unrest. However, analysts noted that these remarks come amid Pakistan’s own controversial cross-border airstrikes in Afghanistan, which have reportedly killed civilians, including Afghan cricketers Sibghatullah, Haroon, and Kabeer Agha.

Pakistan Faces Criticism Over Airstrikes in Afghanistan

While accusing India of aggression, Pakistan’s military is facing international backlash for its operations across the Durand Line. The attacks, targeting militant hideouts in Afghanistan’s Paktika province, have deepened the humanitarian crisis in the war-torn country. Observers argue that Munir’s strong statements against India are an attempt to divert domestic and international scrutiny from Pakistan’s escalating conflict with the Afghan Taliban, which has carried out repeated cross-border assaults.

South Asia on Edge as Pakistan’s Nuclear Rhetoric Escalates

This is not the first time that Asim Munir has invoked nuclear deterrence in his speeches. Earlier this year, just days before a deadly terrorist attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pahalgam that claimed 26 civilian lives, he referred to Kashmir as Pakistan’s “jugular vein,” sparking fears of renewed conflict. His latest remarks have once again placed South Asia on alert, with experts warning that continued nuclear brinkmanship and aggressive posturing could destabilize the region further.
