Parliament Disrupted: Lok Sabha, Rajya Sabha Adjourned Amid Opposition Uproar

Published on

New Delhi: Both Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha were adjourned till 1 pm today following loud protests and sloganeering by opposition parties over multiple contentious issues.

Opposition Stalls Lok Sabha Over Bihar Revision, Other Demands

As the Lok Sabha convened at 11 AM, Speaker Om Birla initiated the Question Hour, but was soon interrupted by Opposition MPs raising slogans. Their key demand was a rollback of the Special Intensive Revision process in Bihar, along with protests on other unresolved matters.

Despite the disruptions, Speaker Birla urged the members to maintain decorum and allow the Question Hour to proceed, calling it a critical part of parliamentary business.

Union Minister Responds Amid Chaos

Even amidst the protests, Union Jal Shakti Minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat responded to a question concerning the Swachhata Green Leaf Rating initiative, an effort to encourage cleanliness and sanitation.

However, as the commotion continued unabated, the Speaker was forced to adjourn the Lok Sabha till 1 pm.

Rajya Sabha Witnesses Similar Scene

In the Rajya Sabha, a similar situation unfolded. The session began with the oath-taking of two AIADMK MPs, M Dhanapal and I S Inbadurai.

Deputy Chairman Harivansh informed the House that he had received 26 adjournment notices from various political parties on different issues. However, he rejected all the notices in accordance with procedural rules.

Unable to manage the rising uproar, the Rajya Sabha too was adjourned until 1pm.
