PM Modi Announces ₹1,500 Crore Relief for Flood-Hit Himachal Pradesh
Himachal Pradesh: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Tuesday visited Himachal Pradesh to review the devastation caused by recent floods, cloudbursts, and landslides. The Prime Minister conducted an aerial survey of the affected regions and chaired a review meeting in Kangra to assess relief measures and damage.
₹1,500 Crore Assistance Announced for Himachal Pradesh
PM Modi announced a financial package of ₹1,500 crore for relief and rehabilitation. This includes the advance release of the second instalment of the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) and assistance under PM Kisan Samman Nidhi.
He also declared ₹2 lakh ex-gratia for the next of kin of those deceased and ₹50,000 for the injured. Children orphaned in the calamity will receive comprehensive care under the PM CARES for Children scheme.
Multi-Pronged Support for Rebuilding
The Prime Minister emphasized a multi-dimensional recovery approach to rebuild homes, restore infrastructure, and support farmers. Key measures include:
- Rebuilding homes under PM Awas Yojana with geotagging for accurate assessment.
- Restoration of national highways and schools under Samagra Shiksha Abhiyan.
- Relief under the Prime Minister’s National Relief Fund (PMNRF).
- Distribution of Mini Kits for livestock and targeted aid for farmers without power connections.
- Construction of recharge structures to improve water harvesting and groundwater management.
Meeting Victims and Relief Workers
PM Modi met families affected by the disaster, expressed his condolences, and assured that the Union Government would work in close coordination with the state. He also interacted with NDRF, SDRF, Army personnel, and Aapda Mitra volunteers, appreciating their tireless relief and rescue efforts.
Central Teams to Assess Damage
The Union Government has already dispatched Inter-Ministerial Central Teams to Himachal Pradesh. Their detailed reports will guide further financial and logistical support.
Prime Minister Modi reassured the people of Himachal that the Central Government stands firmly with the state and will make every possible effort to restore normalcy.
