Male (Maldives): Prime Minister Narendra Modi is attending the 60th Independence Day celebrations of the Maldives today as the ‘Guest of Honour’, during his ongoing State Visit to the island nation at the invitation of President Mohamed Muizzu.

Warm Reception and Banquet Hosted by Maldives President

Last evening, President Muizzu and First Lady Sajidha Mohamed hosted a state banquet in honour of Prime Minister Modi. During the event, Modi thanked the Maldivian leadership and extended heartfelt greetings to the people of the Maldives on their historic milestone.

Celebrating Enduring Bilateral Ties

In his remarks, President Mohamed Muizzu praised Prime Minister Modi’s leadership and congratulated him on becoming the second longest-serving Prime Minister of India. He described India as Maldives’ closest and most reliable partner, acknowledging the deep-rooted and expanding partnership between the two nations.

Strong Cooperation Across Key Sectors

President Muizzu highlighted the broad scope of India-Maldives cooperation, including security, trade, healthcare, education, and other areas that directly impact the lives of Maldivian citizens. He reaffirmed the Maldives’ commitment to strengthening ties with India and working together on shared regional goals.
