PM Modi in Bihar and West Bengal Today: Inauguration of Mega Projects Worth Over ₹18,000 Crore

Published on

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is visiting Bihar and West Bengal today to inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for several development projects with a combined worth exceeding ₹18,000 crore. His visit will cover multiple sectors including infrastructure, energy, healthcare, housing, and transportation.

PM Modi Bihar visit: Major infrastructure boost across state

In Bihar, the Prime Minister will arrive in Gaya at around 11 AM to launch and dedicate development projects worth nearly ₹13,000 crore. During the program, he will also flag off two new trains and deliver an address to the public.

One of the key highlights is the inauguration of the Aunta–Simaria bridge on the River Ganga, which will directly connect Mokama in Patna with Begusarai. This bridge will reduce the travel distance by more than 100 km for vehicles moving between North and South Bihar.

Additionally, the Prime Minister will open the four-lane Bakhtiyarpur–Mokama section of NH-31, easing traffic congestion, saving travel time, and improving passenger as well as freight transportation.

Power, healthcare, and housing projects to transform Bihar

Mr. Modi will also inaugurate the Buxar Thermal Power Plant, which will expand electricity generation, strengthen energy security, and meet the rising power demands of the region.

Healthcare will get a major boost with the launch of the Homi Bhabha Cancer Hospital & Research Centre in Muzaffarpur. This state-of-the-art institution will offer advanced and affordable cancer treatment to patients in Bihar and nearby states.

Further, the Prime Minister will inaugurate the Sewerage Treatment Plant (STP) and Sewerage Network at Munger, constructed under the Namami Gange initiative, aimed at reducing pollution in the Ganga River and improving sanitation standards in the region.

As part of housing initiatives, he will participate in the symbolic Grih Pravesh ceremony for 12,000 beneficiaries under PMAY-Gramin and 4,260 beneficiaries under PMAY-Urban, handing over keys to selected families.

PM Modi Bihar visit: Flagging off new train services

The Prime Minister will launch two important train services during his Bihar visit. The first is the Amrit Bharat Express connecting Gaya with Delhi, and the second is the Buddhist Circuit Train linking Vaishali and Koderma. These services are expected to strengthen regional connectivity and boost religious as well as cultural tourism.

Metro expansion and ₹5,200 crore projects in West Bengal

In the evening, the Prime Minister will reach Kolkata, West Bengal, at around 4:15 PM to inaugurate newly constructed sections of the metro rail. He will also take a metro ride from Jessore Road Metro Station to Jai Hind Bimanbandar and back.

Alongside this, Mr. Modi will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate several projects worth more than ₹5,200 crore in the city. The visit will conclude with his address to the gathering in Kolkata.
