PM Modi Urges Productivity As Winter Session Begins Warns Against Disruptions

Published on

PM Modi Winter Session: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday opened the Winter Session of Parliament with a strong call for meaningful work and national progress. Speaking at Hans Dwar before the session began, he encouraged both treasury and opposition benches to use the upcoming days to advance legislation that benefits citizens. He highlighted that India’s democratic structure continues to strengthen and said the recent high voter turnout in Bihar, especially the increased participation of women, reflects public trust in parliamentary democracy. He noted that the nation has again shown that democracy consistently delivers results.

The Prime Minister urged the Opposition to channel their energy toward constructive debate rather than confrontation. He advised them not to react emotionally to recent election outcomes and instead engage in discussions that support the country’s interests. He cautioned against unnecessary disruptions and said that Parliament should prioritise delivery over theatrics. PM Modi also reminded his own alliance that election victories should not lead to complacency or pride.

PM Modi Winter Session: Agenda Outlined With Key Reform Bills

This Winter Session, the sixth of the Eighteenth Lok Sabha, is expected to be eventful as the government prepares for a strong legislative drive aimed at accelerating economic reforms. The agenda includes ten major bills, such as the Atomic Energy Bill 2025 and the Insurance Laws (Amendment) Bill 2025, both seen as crucial for pushing policy modernisation in their respective sectors.

PM Modi Winter Session Faces Resistance From United Opposition

Even before the session fully begins, the Opposition is preparing to challenge the government on several fronts. The most urgent demand concerns a detailed debate on the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls. Opposition leaders have warned that they may be forced to obstruct proceedings if this issue is not taken up immediately.

Other Key Issues Likely to Dominate the Winter Session

Apart from electoral concerns, several other matters are expected to shape the narrative in Parliament. The Opposition is set to raise questions about the internal security environment, especially after the November 10 Red Fort terror blast in Delhi. Air pollution in the national capital and other major cities is also likely to feature prominently, along with broader governance issues.

PM Modi Calls for Calm, Focus and Cooperation

The Prime Minister’s address, broadcast live on his official channel, underlined the importance of calm and cooperation in driving legislative progress. His message encouraged lawmakers to maintain discipline, avoid procedural standstills, and concentrate on shaping policies that benefit the nation. As the 15-day session begins, both sides appear ready for a demanding and politically charged period.
