Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana 2026: The registration deadline for PMFBY Kharif 2026 Odisha has been extended to August 31, giving farmers additional time to secure crop insurance for the current Kharif season.

The extension follows a request from the Odisha Cooperative Department and is aimed at increasing enrolment among cultivators who may otherwise miss protection against crop losses caused by weather events and other natural risks.

The scheme covers eligible loanee and non-loanee farmers, along with sharecroppers, subject to the applicable conditions in their districts.

PMFBY Kharif 2026 Odisha Registration and Eligibility

Under the scheme, farmers can obtain crop insurance coverage for up to five acres without paying the farmer’s premium share, as the Odisha government bears that portion. A charge of ₹1 per plot is applicable for bank account verification.

Sharecroppers can also enrol, provided they have the required consent from the landowner.

However, the extended registration period does not follow exactly the same eligibility conditions across all districts.

PMFBY Kharif 2026 Odisha Has District-Specific Rules

In Ganjam, Kalahandi, Puri, Subarnapur, Bargarh, Bhadrak, Gajapati, Jajpur and Jagatsinghpur, registration during the extended period is restricted to loanee farmers.

In the remaining districts, eligible farmers from the specified categories can register under the scheme.

The distinction is important for farmers who were waiting for the deadline extension, as eligibility during the additional period depends on where they cultivate their crops.

PMFBY Kharif 2026 Odisha Covers Eight Crops

The notified crops under PMFBY for Kharif 2026 include:

  • Paddy
  • Maize
  • Groundnut
  • Ragi
  • Cotton
  • Arhar
  • Ginger
  • Turmeric

Farmers can complete registration through PACS/LAMPCS, cooperative banks, commercial banks, Common Service Centres (CSCs), authorised insurance representatives and approved digital platforms.

The government has also deployed officials through ARCS, DRCS and CDAO offices to help cultivators with the enrolment process.

The extension is particularly important because crop insurance can provide a financial cushion when farmers face losses from events such as excessive rainfall, drought, floods and other notified risks.

Farmers who have not yet completed their enrolment should verify their eligibility and crop details and finish the registration process before August 31.

Missing the extended deadline could mean losing the opportunity to obtain coverage for the Kharif 2026 season, making timely registration particularly important for eligible cultivators.
