In a proactive move ahead of the Buddha Amarnath Yatra, the Poonch Police, in coordination with other security forces, carried out an extensive mock drill and rehearsal to assess and reinforce security arrangements for the annual religious event.
Full-Scale Mock Drill Conducted
The security exercise was led by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Poonch, Shafqat Hussain, who oversaw the entire operation and later briefed the media. “We conducted a comprehensive mock drill today to test our coordination and preparedness for the yatra,” said SSP Hussain.
Focus on Coordination and Emergency Response
The drill included multiple simulated emergency scenarios aimed at evaluating the effectiveness of response time, coordination between agencies, and overall security strategy. Critical spots along the yatra route were examined for crowd control, surveillance, and emergency handling.
Safety of Pilgrims is Top Priority
Highlighting the significance of the yatra, SSP Hussain stressed that ensuring the safety of pilgrims remains the administration’s foremost priority. He urged the public to extend full cooperation to security forces and follow official advisories for the smooth and peaceful conduct of the pilgrimage.
