Prime Minister Modi Condoles Demise of Former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani in Air India Plane Crash

Prime Minister Narendra Modi today expressed deep sorrow over the death of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who was among the victims of the tragic Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad.

In a heartfelt message posted on social media, Mr Modi recalled working “shoulder to shoulder” with Rupani during some of the most challenging periods in Gujarat’s political landscape. He described Vijay Rupani as a humble, hardworking leader who remained firmly committed to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s ideology throughout his life.

The Prime Minister also reflected on Rupani’s distinguished public service career, which included significant roles such as:

  • Mayor of Rajkot Municipal Corporation
  • Member of Parliament in the Rajya Sabha
  • President of Gujarat BJP
  • Cabinet Minister in the Gujarat Government
  • Chief Minister of Gujarat

Mr Modi said Rupani’s demise is a personal loss and a huge void for the BJP family. He extended his condolences to the bereaved family and all those mourning the loss of the veteran leader.
