Puri Srimandir to Introduce ‘Dhadi Darshan’ System Within Seven Days After Hundi Relocation

Bhubaneswar: The long-awaited queue-based darshan system, ‘Dhadi Darshan,’ will be introduced at the Puri Jagannath Temple (Srimandir) within the next seven days, Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan announced on Sunday.

The decision comes as the temple authorities begin the relocation of the hundi (donation box) from the temple premises, a move that had been pending due to required approvals.

Dhadi Darshan to Begin After Hundi Relocation at Puri Srimandir

Speaking to the media during his Angul visit, Minister Harichandan confirmed that the hundi relocation process has already started after obtaining all necessary clearances from concerned authorities.

“The relocation of the hundi has already started, and the requisite permissions have been secured. The Dhadi Darshan system will be implemented within seven days of the donation box being fully shifted,” the Minister stated.

What is Dhadi Darshan at Jagannath Temple?

The Dhadi Darshan system is designed to regulate the entry of devotees into the Srimandir by introducing an organised queue arrangement. This initiative aims to:

  • Reduce congestion inside the sanctum area
  • Ensure fair and equal access for all devotees
  • Strengthen temple security and discipline
  • Provide a more comfortable darshan experience

Government Assures Smooth Devotee Experience

Harichandan assured devotees that the new arrangement will not only streamline the darshan process but also enhance safety.

“This arrangement is aimed at facilitating a smooth flow of devotees while maintaining security and decorum inside the temple premises,” he said.

With lakhs of devotees visiting the 12th-century shrine every year, the Dhadi Darshan system is expected to significantly improve crowd management during festivals and daily rituals.
