Scorching Heatwave Grips Himachal Pradesh; Relief Likely with Rain Forecast Till June 15

Published on

Amid extreme heatwave conditions, nearly half of Himachal Pradesh is experiencing intense and unseasonal heat. In a surprising shift, not just the plains but even popular hill stations like Shimla and Manali are witnessing unusually high temperatures, leaving residents and tourists alike battling the sweltering heat.

Hill Stations Reeling Under Heatwave

According to reports, the trend of rising temperatures continues across most districts of the state. In the typically cooler regions of Shimla and Manali, the mercury has climbed to levels rarely seen this time of year, causing widespread discomfort.

Plains Districts Face Severe Heat

The situation is especially critical in the plains districts of Una, Hamirpur, Bilaspur, Kangra, Mandi, Solan, and Sirmaur, where maximum temperatures have surged past 40°C. These areas are under the grip of severe heatwave conditions, with hot winds expected to further intensify discomfort.

Authorities Issue Heat Advisory

The Meteorological Department has urged the public to stay indoors during peak afternoon hours, remain hydrated, and take all precautions to prevent heatstroke. People have been advised to wear light clothing, use umbrellas or hats, and avoid strenuous activities in the sun.

Weather Relief on the Horizon

In a welcome development, the department has forecast rain and thunderstorms in several parts of the state starting today, with this spell of relief expected to continue till June 15. This could provide much-needed respite to residents coping with the relentless heat.
