Share Market Today: Sensex, Nifty End Higher; IT Stocks Lead Rally

Share Market Today: Benchmark equity indices closed with modest gains on Tuesday, supported by a strong rally in IT stocks.

The BSE Sensex advanced 314 points (0.39%) to settle at 81,101, while the NSE Nifty rose 95 points (0.39%) to end at 24,868.

Broader Market Trend

Broader indices also ended in the green. The BSE Midcap index added 0.2%, while the Smallcap index rose over 0.2%, reflecting positive sentiment across the market.

Top Gainers and Losers

Out of the 30 Sensex stocks, 19 closed higher.

  • Infosys surged 5%, leading the rally.
  • Tata Chemicals and Adani Ports each climbed 2.4%.
    On the downside:
  • Trent slipped 1.8%,
  • Eternal lost 1.2%,
  • UltraTech Cement fell 0.9%.

Sectoral Performance

At the sectoral level, 13 of 21 BSE indices ended in the green, with IT stocks leading the charge.

  • Focused IT gained 2.9%,
  • IT index rose 2.8%,
  • Teck index added 2.2%.

Among laggards, Realty and Oil & Gas dipped 0.3% each, Energy lost 0.2%, while Auto shed 0.1%.
