Many begin the Solah Somvar Vrat (16-Monday fast) from the first Shravan Somvar, believing it helps fulfill heartfelt desires and remove karmic burdens.
Fasting is usually accompanied by meditation, recitation of Shiva mantras, and abstinence from worldly pleasures — all intended to purify the mind and connect with divine energy.
