Bhubaneswar, Odisha: World-renowned sand artist Sudarsan Pattnaik has once again captivated the hearts of devotees and tourists with his latest masterpiece — an intricate sand sculpture of Lord Shiva on the sacred shores of Puri Beach. The artwork was unveiled on Monday, marking the beginning of the holy month of Shravan.
Pattnaik’s breathtaking creation features Lord Shiva in his divine form — with the crescent moon adorning his hair and the sacred river Ganga flowing from his matted locks (jata). On the right side of the sculpture, a Shiva Linga is placed, symbolizing devotion, while a yellow snake curling from the left adds realism and traditional significance to the artwork.
A Message of Peace, Strength, and Devotion
Through this divine sand creation, Pattnaik has shared a spiritual message:
“Om Namah Shivaya, May Mahadev bless us with strength, peace, and devotion,” is inscribed near the sculpture, reflecting the core spirit of Shravan Somvar — a day considered highly auspicious by Shiva devotees.
Taking to social media platform X, Pattnaik wrote:
“Om Namah Shivaya. On this holy #ShravanSomvar, may Mahadev bless us with strength, peace & devotion. My sand art at Puri Beach, Odisha – a humble tribute to Lord Shiva.”
With the arrival of Shravan — a month dedicated to the worship of Lord Shiva — Pattnaik’s art has added a divine dimension to Puri Beach, already a hub for pilgrims visiting the Jagannath Temple. His sculpture has become a major attraction, drawing not just art enthusiasts but also devotees seeking blessings during this sacred time.
