‘The Devil Wears Prada 2’ Begins Filming with Original Cast and Fresh Twists

Published on

Nearly 20 years after it became a cultural landmark, The Devil Wears Prada is officially getting a sequel. Filming for The Devil Wears Prada 2 is now underway, with Disney’s 20th Century Studios confirming a May 1, 2026 theatrical release.

Original Cast Returns, Plus a New Face

Fans of the original 2006 film are in for a treat, as Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, Emily Blunt, and Stanley Tucci return to reprise their iconic roles. Director David Frankel and screenwriter Aline Brosh McKenna also return, aiming to preserve the magic of the original.

In an exciting twist, Kenneth Branagh joins the cast as Miranda Priestly’s elusive husband, a character never seen in the original film. His presence is expected to reveal more about Miranda’s complex personal life.

Adrien Grenier Not Returning

One noticeable absence will be Adrien Grenier, who played Nate, Andy’s boyfriend. His departure hints at possible new developments in Andy Sachs’ life arc in the sequel.

The plot is still under wraps but is expected to follow themes from Lauren Weisberger’s sequel novel, Revenge Wears Prada: The Devil Returns. The original film grossed over $326 million globally, becoming a fan favorite and earning Meryl Streep an Oscar nomination.

Interestingly, production kicks off amid real-world fashion industry changes, including Anna Wintour’s retirement—long rumored to have inspired the Miranda Priestly character—adding a real-life parallel to the storyline.

With the original stars back and new characters entering the spotlight, The Devil Wears Prada 2 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated films of 2026.
