Two Arrested for Murder of Grocery Shop Owner in Bahadapalli Village, Ganjam

Published on

BERHAMPUR: In a major breakthrough, Rambha police in Ganjam district arrested two individuals on Wednesday in connection with the Bahadapalli murder case. The victim, 55-year-old grocery shop owner B Manu Pradhan, was brutally hacked to death near a railway level crossing on the night of August 2.

The arrested individuals, Keshab Pradhan and Jaya Pradhan—both residents of Bahadapalli village—allegedly conspired and carried out the murder due to past enmity with the deceased. According to Rambha IIC Kumar Muduli, Keshab confessed to the crime during police interrogation and admitted to planning and executing the murder with Jaya’s help.

Old Rivalries Behind the Bahadapalli Murder Case

Police revealed that Keshab had a long-standing land dispute with Manu, while Jaya held a personal grudge after being ostracised from the village during Manu’s tenure as president of the village committee. The duo had reportedly been waiting for the right moment to take revenge.

On the night of the murder, the two accused ambushed Manu as he was returning home alone and attacked him with sharp weapons near the railway crossing. The weapons used in the crime have been recovered by the police.

Rambha police said further investigation is ongoing to determine if any other individuals were involved in the Bahadapalli murder case.
