Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan Urges Unity, Farmer Welfare and Swadeshi at Suttur Math
Mysuru: In a powerful message of unity, service, and self-reliance, Union Agriculture Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan participated in a grand ceremony marking the 110th birth anniversary of Jagadguru Dr. Sri Shivarathri Rajendra Mahaswamiji at Shri Suttur Math in Mysuru. The event witnessed the presence of saints, devotees, and political representatives from across Karnataka.

While addressing the gathering, Shri Chouhan emphasized that true worship lies in serving humanity. He said, “Politics divides, but religion unites, and serving the downtrodden is the truest form of worship.” The Minister praised the Math for its social contributions, particularly in the fields of education, healthcare, and community service. He added that the spirit of selfless work at the Math has set an example for the entire country.

The Union Minister reiterated his commitment towards farmers, describing them as “life-givers, food providers, and the soul of the Indian economy.” He said that continuous efforts are being made to make farming profitable through policies that focus on reducing input costs, ensuring fair prices, and compensating farmers for crop losses. Shri Chouhan also underlined the importance of agricultural diversification and integrated farming models, which can provide multiple sources of income for small landholders.
Comparing India with countries like the US, Australia, and Brazil, the Minister observed that while foreign farmers enjoy large land holdings, Indian farmers manage with smaller plots. He called for new measures and innovations to ensure profitability for small-scale farmers.

Swadeshi products essential for self-reliant India
Shri Chouhan strongly advocated the use of indigenous products in daily life. He said that on the call of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, every citizen should take a pledge to adopt swadeshi products. “Using goods made in our country will strengthen India’s economy and create new opportunities,” he remarked. The Minister expressed confidence that people will embrace this movement, which will further boost national self-reliance.
India’s role in global peace and challenges ahead
Addressing international concerns, Shri Chouhan noted that some countries are behaving like dictators, creating crises for the rest of the world. He emphasized that India, rooted in values of peace and humanity, will play a central role in guiding global society towards harmony. He added that the unity of Indians, beyond political and ideological differences, will be vital in facing global economic and trade challenges, including tariffs imposed by other nations.
