Indian Diaspora Greets PM Modi with Enthusiasm
The Prime Minister’s arrival sparked joyous celebrations among the Indian diaspora, who gathered in large numbers, waving national flags and chanting “Modi, Modi”. Their presence reflected the strong people-to-people bond that unites the two nations.
A Historic State Visit
PM Modi is on a two-day State Visit to the Maldives from July 25–26, 2025, at the official invitation of President Muizzu. This is Modi’s third visit to the Maldives and notably, the first visit by any foreign Head of Government since Dr. Muizzu assumed office in November 2023.
Guest of Honour at 60th Independence Day
On July 26, Prime Minister Modi will be the ‘Guest of Honour’ at the 60th Independence Day celebrations of the Maldives, underscoring India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy and its vision of regional cooperation through Vision MAHASAGAR.
Boosting Strategic and Economic Ties
The visit is expected to strengthen cooperation in key areas including defence, maritime security, trade, and sustainable development. It aims to enhance the strategic partnership and reaffirm India’s commitment to the shared prosperity of the Indian Ocean region.
