77th Independence Day: PM Modi to lead the celebrations from the Red Fort

77th Independence Day Celebration: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will lead the country in celebrating the 77th anniversary of Independence Day from Delhi’s renowned Red Fort. From the Red Fort ramparts, he will hoist the National Flag and address the country on 15th August.

The Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations, which the prime minister started off at Sabarmati Ashram in Ahmedabad, Gujarat on March 12, 2021, will come to a close on this year’s Independence Day. Today at Red Fort, there were complete dress rehearsals for the Independence Day ceremonies.

This year, a variety of fresh initiatives have been implemented to mark Independence Day. Compared to last year, there have been a lot more visitors invited. From all around the nation, about 1 000 800 Special Guests of various professions and their spouses have been invited.

The action was taken in accordance with the government’s Jan Bhagidari vision. More than 400 Sarpanches from more than 660 vibrant villages are among these Special Guests, along with 250 Farmer Producer Organization members, 50 participants in each of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi Scheme and Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, and 50 Shram Yogis from the Central Vista Project, which includes the New Parliament Building.

Also 75 couples from each State and Union Territory have also been invited to attend the ceremony at Red Fort while dressed traditionally.

Selfie Points for 77th Independence Day Celebration

At 12 locations, including the National War Memorial, India Gate, Vijay Chowk, New Delhi Railway Station, Pragati Maidan, Raj Ghat, Jama Masjid Metro Station, Rajiv Chowk Metro Station, Delhi Gate Metro Station, ITO Metro Gate, Naubat Khana, and Sheesh Ganj Gurudwara, selfie points have been installed to promote various government programs and initiatives.

The programs/initiatives are Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, Jal Jeevan Mission, Digital India, Skill India, Start-up India, Swachh Bharat, Sashakt Bharat, and Naya Bharat. Global Hope: Vaccine & Yoga, Ujjwala Yojana, Space Power, are also included.

The Ministry of Defence will hold a selfie contest on the MyGov platform from August 15 to 20 as part of the festivities. To enter the contest, people are urged to take selfies at one or more of the 12 installations and upload them to the MyGov platform. The results of the online selfie competition will be used to choose twelve winners, one from each installation. Each winner will receive a prize of Rs 10,000.
