Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a powerful pitch for Nitish Kumar Bihar election 2025 campaign during his rally in Samastipur, declaring that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) under Nitish Kumar’s leadership will achieve a historic victory in the upcoming Bihar Assembly election. Calling him ‘sushasan babu’, the Prime Minister said the people of Bihar are once again ready to vote for good governance, chanting “phir ek baar NDA sarkar, phir ek baar sushasan sarkar.”
This marks the first time PM Modi has clearly projected Nitish Kumar as the face of the NDA campaign, signaling confidence in the long-serving Chief Minister despite speculation about post-election leadership plans.
Opposition Targets NDA Over Leadership Clarity
The announcement came a day after the INDIA bloc named Tejashwi Yadav as its chief ministerial candidate, while challenging the NDA to reveal its own. Senior Congress leader Ashok Gehlot, speaking in Bihar, questioned the ruling alliance’s hesitation, saying, “Our leader is Tejashwi Yadav. Now they should confirm who is theirs.”
The opposition has repeatedly mocked the NDA for what it called internal confusion about leadership, pointing to recent comments by Home Minister Amit Shah that the alliance would “sit together and decide” its Chief Minister if it wins. Tejashwi Yadav used this remark to claim that Nitish Kumar’s leadership was in jeopardy, reigniting debates about his future.
NDA Asserts Unity Ahead of Polls
The Janata Dal United (JDU) and its allies have maintained that Nitish Kumar will continue to serve as Chief Minister if the NDA retains power. Party leaders have dismissed speculation about leadership rifts, emphasizing the Chief Minister’s record of stability and governance. The NDA’s early campaign strategy appears focused on consolidating its base under Nitish’s familiar leadership while showcasing developmental achievements of the past decade.
Development and Vision for Bihar’s Future
PM Modi used the Samastipur rally to highlight Bihar’s transformation under the NDA government, noting improvements in infrastructure, investment, and entrepreneurship. “There is not a single corner where the BJP isn’t carrying out development work,” he said, promising a future where every district becomes a hub for local start-ups. The Prime Minister also contrasted this vision with what he termed as the “jungle raj” of previous RJD governments, asserting that Bihar’s progress would have been impossible under their rule.
