New Delhi: The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has officially released the date sheet for Class 10 and Class 12 Board Examinations 2026, scheduled to begin from February 17, 2026. This announcement marks an important academic update, especially as CBSE implements several new measures under the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.
CBSE Class 10 And 12 Exam 2026 To Begin From February 17
In its latest circular, CBSE stated that the 2026 exams will start on February 17, and for the first time, two board examinations will be conducted for Class 10 as per NEP 2020 recommendations. The Board had earlier released a tentative date sheet on September 24, 2025, giving students and schools 146 days to plan their preparations. The final date sheet has now been issued 110 days before the exams.
CBSE Date Sheet 2026 Focuses On Student Convenience
While preparing the schedule, CBSE ensured a sufficient gap between commonly chosen subjects to help students manage their studies effectively. The Board also coordinated with entrance exam schedules like JEE (Main) to avoid date clashes and ensure students can prepare for both examinations smoothly. The examinations will start at 10:30 AM (IST) across all centres.
Early Release Of CBSE Date Sheet 2026 To Benefit Students
For the first time, CBSE has issued the final date sheet more than three months in advance, thanks to timely data submission by schools. According to the Board, this early release will reduce exam stress, help students prepare better, and allow teachers and families to plan their schedules efficiently. Schools fixed as exam centres will also get adequate time for logistical arrangements.
Schools Asked To Share Class XI Registration Details For JEE (Main)
To prevent overlapping exam dates, the National Testing Agency (NTA) has requested Class XI registration numbers from students applying for JEE (Main). CBSE has instructed all affiliated schools to provide these details to ensure smooth coordination between both examination bodies.
