GST Revenue Soars in October 2025 Reaching ₹1,95,936 Crore with 4.6% Growth

Published on

India’s GST revenue October 2025 collection surged to ₹1,95,936 crore, marking a 4.6% increase compared to ₹1,87,346 crore in October 2024. The sharp rise comes on the back of the recent GST rate rationalisation implemented in late September 2025, reflecting strong consumer demand during the festive season.

The yearly growth from October 2024 to October 2025 stands at 7.8%, rising from ₹9,65,138 crore to ₹10,40,055 crore. Domestic gross revenue grew by 2% while import-related GST saw a substantial 12.9% growth, highlighting strong trade activity and resilient economic fundamentals.

GST Revenue October 2025 Shows Strong Growth in Domestic and Import Collections

The breakdown of collections (see Table 1) shows domestic GST revenue increasing from ₹1,42,251 crore in October 2024 to ₹1,45,052 crore in October 2025, reflecting steady consumption patterns. Import GST revenue rose from ₹45,096 crore to ₹50,884 crore — a 12.84% increase — indicating buoyant international trade and improved compliance.

The total gross GST revenue October 2025 across CGST, SGST, IGST, and Cess reached ₹1,95,936 crore compared to ₹1,87,346 crore last year, confirming India’s expanding tax base under the unified tax regime.

Refunds and Net GST Revenue Indicate Positive Fiscal Trend

The monthly GST refund growth stood at 39.6%, with domestic refunds increasing by 26.5% and import refunds by 55.3%. Refund amounts rose from ₹10,484 crore to ₹13,260 crore (domestic) and from ₹8,808 crore to ₹13,675 crore (imports).

The Net GST revenue October 2025 reached ₹1,69,002 crore, showing a 0.6% monthly and 7.1% yearly growth compared to ₹1,68,054 crore in October 2024. This steady upward trajectory signals effective tax administration, increased compliance, and sustained business activity.

State-Wise GST Performance Reflects India’s Balanced Growth

State-wise data (see Table 3) reveals Maharashtra, Karnataka, Gujarat, Tamil Nadu, and Haryana contributed over 40% of total GST revenue, reaffirming their status as key economic drivers.

While some states such as Nagaland (46%), Arunachal Pradesh (44%), and Lakshadweep (39%) recorded double-digit growth, others like Jharkhand (-15%) and Himachal Pradesh (-17%) saw slight declines. This mixed performance highlights regional consumption patterns and post-rationalisation adjustments.

The post-settlement GST revenues (see Table 4) also show a healthy national average growth of 7%, underscoring fiscal stability and efficient fund distribution across States and Union Territories.

GST Revenue October 2025 Reflects India’s Economic Resilience

The consistent rise in GST revenue October 2025 showcases India’s economic resilience, expanding compliance network, and robust domestic demand. Import-related GST collections underline positive trade sentiment, while strong state-wise growth points to improved consumption across sectors.

The government’s focus on rate rationalisation, compliance monitoring, and digital invoicing has further strengthened the GST ecosystem. Overall, the upward trend reinforces India’s fiscal stability and positions the economy on a solid trajectory for FY 2025–26.
