Bhubaneswar: The Odisha summer power supply no power cut assurance was announced in the Assembly on Wednesday by Suresh Pujari.

In a written reply in the Odisha Legislative Assembly, the minister said the Power Department has been directed to ensure uninterrupted electricity supply during the upcoming summer season.

The announcement comes as the state prepares for possible heatwave conditions in the coming months.

Odisha Summer Power Supply Plan for Heatwave Season

According to the minister, the government has prepared a comprehensive heatwave action plan covering all 30 districts of Odisha along with the twin cities.

Special preparedness measures have also been designed for 31 urban areas to manage potential extreme heat conditions.

The data suggests that rising temperatures and frequent heatwaves in recent years have prompted authorities to strengthen disaster preparedness and infrastructure planning.

Control Rooms Set Up Across State

To monitor the situation closely, the government has established control rooms at both state and district levels.

These centres will track weather conditions, coordinate emergency responses and ensure quick action if heat related issues arise.

What the preparedness strategy indicates is that uninterrupted power supply is considered crucial during heatwaves, especially for cooling systems, water supply and healthcare facilities.

Push to Include Heatwave in National Disaster List

The minister also informed the Assembly that efforts are underway to include heatwave in the national disaster list.

The recommendation has been supported by the Sixteenth Finance Commission.

If heatwaves are formally recognised as a national disaster category, states could receive additional financial support for preparedness and relief measures.

Government Appeals for Public Awareness

Authorities have urged citizens to remain alert during extreme heat conditions and follow safety advisories.

The data suggests that coordinated planning, uninterrupted electricity supply and early warning systems are essential to reduce health risks during severe summer heat.

With the new measures in place, the Odisha government aims to ensure reliable power supply while strengthening its overall heatwave preparedness across the state.
