  • Iran warns it could target US linked infrastructure across the region.

The US strikes Iran Kharg Island in a major escalation of the ongoing Middle East conflict, launching a series of attacks on Iranian military infrastructure as tensions enter their third week.

According to US Central Command, American forces carried out a large scale overnight operation targeting more than 90 military facilities on Kharg Island, a strategic hub responsible for handling nearly 90 percent of Iran’s oil exports.

The strikes mark one of the most intense military actions in the region in recent years and raise concerns about potential disruptions to global oil supply.

US Strikes Iran Kharg Island Targeting Military Infrastructure

US Central Command confirmed that the operation focused on Iranian military assets located on the island.

Targets reportedly included naval mine storage facilities, missile storage bunkers and other military installations. US officials said the strikes were designed to weaken Iran’s military capabilities while avoiding damage to key oil export infrastructure.

Former US President Donald Trump described the operation as one of the most powerful bombing campaigns conducted in the region.

The attack comes amid rising tensions surrounding alleged Iranian attempts to disrupt global shipping through the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil transit routes.

Strategic Importance of Kharg Island

Kharg Island plays a critical role in Iran’s economy and global energy markets.

Located in the Persian Gulf, the island serves as Iran’s main oil export terminal and handles a large share of the country’s petroleum shipments.

Any military activity around Kharg Island could have significant implications for global oil prices and international shipping routes.

Iran Rejects Claims and Issues Warning

Iran has disputed US claims about the scale of damage caused by the strikes.

Officials in Tehran said that oil infrastructure remains intact and that there were no reported casualties.

However, Iranian military leaders issued a strong warning in response to the attacks.

Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al Anbiya Central Headquarters, warned that if Iran’s energy or economic infrastructure is targeted, the country could retaliate by attacking oil and energy facilities linked to US companies across the region.

Israel Signals Escalation in Regional Conflict

Israel has also indicated that the confrontation with Iran is entering what officials describe as a decisive phase.

Israeli Defence Minister Israel Katz praised the US operation and called the strikes a severe blow to Iran’s strategic oil hub.

He also said Israeli air operations targeting Iranian positions are continuing across Tehran and other locations.

Regional Tensions Continue to Rise

The conflict is spreading across several parts of the Middle East.

Reports indicate that thick smoke was seen near oil facilities at the port of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates, an important refuelling and shipping hub located near the Strait of Hormuz.

Meanwhile, the US Embassy in Baghdad reportedly came under attack as fighting between Israeli forces, Iranian backed groups and Hezbollah continues in parts of the region.

Iranian military officials have also warned residents in the UAE to move away from locations near potential US military targets, signaling that the confrontation could expand further across the Middle East.
