KENDUJHAR: The Kendujhar onion truck accident caused temporary traffic disruption on National Highway-49 after a truck carrying onions overturned near Juda Ghati on Sunday. The vehicle, which was travelling from Nashik in Maharashtra to West Bengal, reportedly lost control before overturning on the highway.
Despite the impact of the crash, the driver escaped safely and no injuries were reported.
Kendujhar Onion Truck Accident Disrupts Traffic on NH-49
According to preliminary reports, the truck overturned after the driver lost control of the vehicle while passing through the Juda Ghati stretch of NH-49.
The accident caused a large quantity of onions to spill across the highway, temporarily affecting the movement of vehicles. Traffic slowed until authorities reached the spot and initiated measures to clear the road.
Locals Gather as Onions Spill Across Highway
Following the accident, hundreds of kilograms of onions were scattered on the road.
Residents from nearby areas rushed to the accident site and collected the spilled onions before the cargo could be cleared. Videos from the scene showed people carrying away as many onions as they could.
Police Begin Investigation
Police reached the accident site soon after receiving information about the incident and began an investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.
Authorities said the driver remained unharmed, and further inquiries are underway to ascertain whether road conditions, vehicle speed or any mechanical issue contributed to the accident.
