Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday launched 53 industrial projects involving investments of ₹39,383 crore across 14 districts, with the projects expected to generate employment opportunities for around 42,000 people.

The projects, involving 46 companies, were unveiled at a groundbreaking and inauguration ceremony in the Kalinganagar industrial belt of Jajpur district. Industries Minister Sampad Chandra and industry representatives attended the event, according to an official statement.

The investments cover a wide range of sectors, including steel and metals, chemicals, renewable energy, food processing, biofuels, textiles and apparel, electronics, IT services, logistics, warehousing, tourism, hospitality and healthcare.

Other sectors covered by the projects include industrial gases, infrastructure, rubber and plastics, shipbuilding and ship repair, power storage, refractories and the circular economy.

14 Odisha Districts to Benefit

The projects are spread across 14 districts: Anugolo, Baragada, Baleswar, Boudh, Kataka, Dhenkanal, Jajpur, Jagatsinghpur, Kendujhar, Khordha, Mayurbhanj, Puri, Sambalpur and Sundargada.

The state government expects the investments to strengthen Odisha’s manufacturing ecosystem, encourage value addition and create opportunities for local suppliers, micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) and entrepreneurs.

The projects are also expected to support employment for skilled and semi-skilled workers, particularly young people, while creating opportunities for local livelihoods.

Majhi Highlights Odisha’s Industrial Growth

Majhi said the projects would help position Odisha as a major manufacturing hub in India and globally.

“This transformative step will create over 42,000 new employment opportunities in the state while establishing Odisha as a leading manufacturing hub of the country and the world,” the Chief Minister said.

He added that the government would continue working towards a self-reliant, developed and prosperous Odisha.

Odisha Government Reports 151 Projects

Taking a swipe at the previous Biju Janata Dal (BJD) government, Majhi said his government had so far launched 116 industrial projects and inaugurated 35, taking the combined total to 151.

According to the official statement, these projects represent a cumulative investment of ₹3,11,722.46 crore and have an estimated employment potential of 2,40,697 people.

The latest announcement adds to the state government’s efforts to attract industrial investment, expand manufacturing activity and create employment across Odisha.
