Lt General DS Rana, Director General of the Defence Intelligence Agency (DG DIA), is scheduled for an official visit to Australia from March 19 to 21, 2025. This visit intends to promote bilateral defence intelligence collaboration and increase strategic engagement between India and Australia.

DG DIA will meet with key Australian Defence officials during his visit, including the Department of Defence’s Deputy Secretary, the Director General of National Intelligence (DGNI), the Chief of Defence Intelligence, and the Chief of Joint Operations of the Australian Defence Forces. These high-level discussions will center on intelligence-sharing procedures, regional security cooperation, and opportunities for future engagement in the Indo-Pacific area.

As part of the visit, DG DIA will also visit Headquarters Joint Operations Command (HQ JOC) to learn about Australia’s operational framework and joint command structures. He is also set to meet with the Director of the Australian Geospatial Organisation. Furthermore, collaborations at the Lowy Institute, a major international policy think tank, will allow conversations about strategic defense and security issues.

DG DIA will lay a wreath at the Australian War Memorial to commemorate India and Australia’s strong defense ties and shared military tradition. The visit will also entail attending the Last Post Ceremony, a solemn homage to deceased soldiers that represents mutual respect and gratitude for the sacrifices made in service to the country.
