President Trump to Impose New Tariffs: 25% Auto Import Tariff Takes Effect Tomorrow

Published on

President Trump to Impose New Tariffs: The White House has confirmed that US President Donald Trump will implement new tariffs today. White House spokeswoman Karoline Leavitt stated that reciprocal tariffs on nations imposing duties on US goods will take effect immediately following Trump’s announcement. Additionally, a 25% tariff on auto imports is set to be enforced starting tomorrow.

Previously, Trump declared April 2nd as Liberation Day, emphasizing that these tariffs would reduce US dependence on foreign products. He asserted that all nations would be affected as part of a broader effort to strengthen US manufacturing and retaliate against what he described as years of unfair trade practices.

According to White House trade adviser Peter Navarro, the new tariffs are expected to generate $600 billion annually, marking the largest tax increase since World War II.
