India’s All-Party Delegation Concludes US Visit

Published on

An Indian all-party parliamentary delegation, led by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor, concluded its diplomatic outreach in the United States as part of a broader global initiative to raise awareness about terrorism originating from Pakistan. The high-level meetings included interactions with US Vice President J.D. Vance and Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau, underlining India’s firm stance following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack.

India Rallies Global Support After Pahalgam Attack

In response to the deadly terrorist strike in Pahalgam, India launched Operation Sindoor to expose the roots of cross-border terrorism. The delegation’s visit to the US was the final phase of a multi-nation campaign to garner international backing. Their mission: to clearly convey India’s position on the threats posed by terrorism supported by elements in Pakistan.

Key Diplomatic Engagements in Washington, D.C.

During their stay in Washington from June 3, the delegation held crucial meetings on Capitol Hill. They engaged with:

  • Vice President J.D. Vance
  • Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau
  • Leadership of the House Foreign Affairs Committee
  • India Caucus leaders
  • Senate Foreign Relations Committee representatives

These discussions were aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation on counter-terrorism and reinforcing India’s narrative on global platforms.

Multi-Country Outreach to Counter Terror Narrative

Before reaching the United States, the Indian team visited Guyana, Panama, Colombia, and Brazil as part of India’s diplomatic mission. This delegation is one of seven such teams deployed by the Indian government to visit 33 global capitals. The goal: to ensure a unified international front against terrorism and expose the nexus between Pakistan-based groups and global terror networks.

The US visit marked the culmination of an intense diplomatic effort spearheaded by India to hold Pakistan accountable for its role in supporting terrorism. Through these high-level interactions, India is solidifying its stance and working toward international consensus to isolate and act against states sponsoring terrorism.
