Maoists Kill 3, Kidnap Over 10 on Suspicion of Being Police Informers Near Malkangiri

Malkangiri: In a brutal act of violence, Maoists killed three villagers and abducted over ten others near the Odisha-Chhattisgarh border, suspecting them to be police informers. The incident occurred in Pedakarem village under Gangulu police limits in Chhattisgarh, close to the Malkangiri district of Odisha.

According to reports, the Naxalites kidnapped more than 10 locals on Tuesday. Seven of them were critically injured, and three were later killed. The Bastar range IGP Sundar Raj confirmed the killings, attributing them to a suspected crackdown against informants.

Security forces, including the police, BSF, and CRPF, have intensified anti-Maoist combing operations in the area. Sources say that among those kidnapped were two family members of Maoists who had previously surrendered to the police, suggesting targeted retribution.

This violent episode follows a recent Maoist attack on June 6, when the group set a truck ablaze in Malkangiri’s Bhairamgad area, further showcasing their continued presence and aggression in the region.

The authorities are continuing rescue and search operations amid heightened security alerts in the affected border regions.
