The Union Cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved four new semiconductor projects in India—spread across Odisha, Punjab, and Andhra Pradesh—at an estimated cost of ₹4,594 crore.

Vaishnaw highlighted that electronics manufacturing in India has grown six times in the last 11 years, while exports have surged eight times. The number of mobile manufacturing units has jumped from just 2 to over 300, and mobile phone exports have skyrocketed 127 times to ₹2 lakh crore.

He also mentioned that the government is extending support to domestic companies, startups, and MSMEs for chip design.

Semicon India 2025 to Host Global Partners

The minister announced that Semicon India 2025 will be held in New Delhi from September 2, with Malaysia, Japan, Singapore, and South Korea participating as partner countries.
