The political atmosphere in Bihar turned heated on Thursday after Union Home Minister Amit Shah on PM Modi mother abuse issued a scathing condemnation of alleged derogatory remarks made against Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his late mother during a Congress-RJD event in Darbhanga.
In his strongly-worded statement posted on X, Amit Shah described the act as “a stain on democracy,” adding that such offensive language from the Congress and RJD platform cannot be tolerated. Following the incident, the Bihar BJP delegation lodged a formal police complaint at the Kotwali police station in Patna.

Amit Shah stated that from Modi’s tenure as Gujarat Chief Minister until his Prime Ministership, the Gandhi family has relentlessly spread hatred against him. But this incident, he said, has crossed all boundaries of propriety.
He further added, “This is not just an insult to PM Modi but an insult to every mother and son in the country.”
Viral Video Sparks Outrage
A video from the Darbhanga event went viral, showing a man hurling abuses through the stage mic while posters of Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, and Tejashwi Yadav were displayed. This sparked widespread outrage across BJP cadres.
BJP Vows Political Action
Sambit Patra, BJP MP and spokesperson, blamed Rahul Gandhi directly for the abuses. He accused Congress of becoming a “gali wali party” and declared that people will punish the INDIA bloc in the upcoming polls. “Congress ki galiyon ki dukan seal hogi, aur iski shuruat Bihar se hogi,” he said.
Protests and FIR Demands in Darbhanga
In Darbhanga, BJP workers staged protests, burning effigies of Rahul Gandhi and Tejashwi Yadav. Aditya Narayan Jha ‘Manna’, BJP district chief, confirmed that the party is collecting evidence to lodge an FIR against those responsible.
