New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has issued a departure statement ahead of his two-day visit to Japan and China, underscoring India’s commitment to advancing strategic, economic, and cultural cooperation with both nations.

At the invitation of Japanese Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba, the Prime Minister will participate in the 15th Annual India-Japan Summit. He said the focus would be on “shaping the next phase” of the Special Strategic and Global Partnership, which has witnessed steady growth over the past 11 years. “We would endeavor to give new wings to our collaboration, expand the scope and ambition of our economic and investment ties, and advance cooperation in new and emerging technologies, including AI and Semiconductors,” he stated.

The Prime Minister also highlighted the importance of strengthening civilizational bonds and cultural ties that connect the people of India and Japan.

Following his Japan visit, the Prime Minister will travel to Tianjin, China, to attend the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) Summit, at the invitation of President Xi Jinping. Stressing India’s active and constructive role in SCO, he recalled India’s initiatives during its presidency in fields such as innovation, health, and cultural exchanges.

The Prime Minister expressed optimism about engaging in discussions with President Xi Jinping, President Vladimir Putin, and other world leaders on the sidelines of the summit.

“I am confident that my visits to Japan and China would further our national interests and priorities, and contribute to building fruitful cooperation in advancing regional and global peace, security, and sustainable development,” he concluded.
