Amit Shah Reiterates Commitment To End Maoism By 2025
Union Home Minister Amit Shah reaffirmed the government’s strong determination to eliminate Maoism from India by 2025, stating that no dialogue will be held with armed left-wing extremists. Speaking at a Kisan Sammelan in Nizamabad, Telangana, Mr. Shah made a direct appeal to Maoists to surrender and join the national mainstream, emphasizing the government’s commitment to ending left-wing extremism.
Mr. Shah categorically stated that those who take up arms and kill tribals, police, and jawans cannot expect peace talks. However, he added that the government’s door is open to those willing to abandon violence and surrender.
He also urged Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy to stay alert and ensure the state does not become a safe haven for Maoists. Highlighting recent progress, Mr. Shah mentioned that over 2,000 Maoists have surrendered in the past 18 months, and referenced the northeastern insurgents, where over 10,000 individuals have laid down arms and reintegrated into society.
Shah Inaugurates National Turmeric Board in Nizamabad
Earlier in the day, Amit Shah inaugurated the National Turmeric Board headquarters in Nizamabad, fulfilling what he described as a 40-year-old dream of turmeric farmers in the region. He stated that the board will help address long-standing challenges in the turmeric sector and enhance India’s turmeric exports to $1 billion by 2030.
Highlighting the medicinal and economic value of turmeric, Shah said the world has come to recognize its curative properties, and that the board will help farmers gain better prices, training, and access to modern techniques.
He also noted that although Nizamabad produces top-quality turmeric, farmers have not been receiving the best market value, a gap the board will now aim to close.
The event was attended by Union Coal and Mines Minister G. Kishan Reddy, Minister of State for Home B. Sanjay Kumar, state ministers Nageswar Rao and Anasuya Sitakka, along with several senior BJP leaders.
