Atal Innovation Mission Committee discusses AIM 2.0
New Delhi: Atal Innovation Mission (AIM), NITI Aayog held a High Level Committee (MHLC) meeting chaired by Hon’ble Minister for Education and Skill Development, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday to discuss the progress and future plans of the mission.
The committee reviewed the progress made by AIM in the past year and discussed key initiatives planned for the coming years.
During the meeting, MHLC Chairman Shri Dharmendra Pradhan emphasized the need to strengthen the innovation ecosystem in the country and promote entrepreneurship among students and youth, especially in higher education institutions in tier 2 or 3 cities. He also emphasized the importance of using technology and digital platforms to ensure better access to resources and support for budding innovators.
The committee discussed several key initiatives planned for AIM 2.0, including providing nudges to all students, promoting the ecosystem through advanced forms of sector incubation centers and industry accelerators, and enhancing innovation capacity across sectors, states and central ministries. Atal Innovation Mission is set up under the ministry.
Shri Dharmendra Pradhan also emphasized the importance of AIM working with PSUs to establish new incubators and support startups in the respective domain. He recommended AIM and the Ministry of Education and Culture to work on the development of innovative curriculum in schools and universities.
“The Atal Innovation Mission has made significant progress in supporting innovation and entrepreneurship in the country. We must continue to strengthen the innovation ecosystem and provide better access to resources and support for budding innovators. I am confident that with the launch of these new initiatives, we will capable of creating a vibrant and dynamic innovation ecosystem in the country”, Shri Dharmendra Pradhan said,
The Atal Innovation Mission also received various inputs from other high-level members of the Mission Committee, including the MHLC Vice-Chairman, Minister of State for Science and Technology, Dr. Jitendra Singh; VC and CEO of NITI Aayog, Secretaries of Ministry of Education, Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, DST, DBT, DSIR, Capacity Building Commission and committee members from private sector and academia.
Since its inception, the Atal Innovation Mission has been instrumental in highlighting innovation and entrepreneurship in the country and the high-level meeting of the committee is a testament to the government’s commitment to promoting innovation and economic growth in the country.
