India, Israel to Establish Institutional Framework for Stronger Defence Partnership

Published on

India and Israel have agreed to bolster their defence cooperation with a long-term strategic approach. The decision came during a high-level meeting held in New Delhi between India’s Defence Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh and Major General (Res) Amir Baram, Director General of the Israeli Ministry of Defence.

Commitment to Strengthen Strategic Ties

The Ministry of Defence, in an official statement, confirmed that both sides reached a consensus on creating an institutional framework aimed at further deepening bilateral defence ties.

Condemnation of Terrorism

During the meeting, Major General (Res) Amir Baram strongly condemned the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam and expressed Israel’s unwavering support for India’s fight against terrorism.

In response, Defence Secretary Singh reiterated India’s zero-tolerance policy toward terrorism and condemned the October 7, 2023, attacks in Israel, while also calling for the immediate release of all hostages.

Review of Ongoing Defence Collaborations

The leaders also reviewed the progress made in various joint defence initiatives since the last Joint Working Group meeting held in July 2023 in India.

A Pivotal Visit

The Ministry emphasized that Major General Baram’s visit signifies a major step in advancing India-Israel defence cooperation and underscores the mutual commitment to strengthening their strategic partnership.
