IPL 2025: RCB VS KKR: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) demolished defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) by seven wickets in the opening game of IPL 2025 at Eden Gardens on Saturday. KKR managed to register a total of just 174, which RCB chased down in just 16.2 overs. Prior to Phil Salt and Virat Kohli displaying their class by slamming half-centuries on their way to a resounding victory, Krunal Pandya (3/29) and Josh Hazlewood (2/22) were the ball’s top players. The sole bright spot for KKR was captain Ajinkya Rahane’s half-century.

KKR: 174/8 (20)

RCB: 177/3 (16.2)

After being put through a lot, RCB responded with a fantastic team batting display and some impressive bowling performances.

The supporters would be especially pleased with the batting because they were aggressive right away, which was something they had been requesting for some time.

With over four overs remaining, Bengaluru easily chased down the target, demonstrating the decisiveness of the outcome.

With the slower bowlers gathering momentum during the middle overs, RCB stormed back into the match as Ajinkya Rahane and Sunil Narine lit up Kolkata with a 25-ball fifty on his captaincy debut.

Despite having a bad start, the latter made it to the playoffs, while the former took home the trophy the previous season. Following the blockbuster auction, both sides’ squads have undergone considerable changes. All eyes will be on Venkatesh Iyer for KKR, though, as his price surprisingly increased. Even if the athlete has previously produced game-winning efforts, every game this season will be closely watched.
