Indian javelin star Neeraj Chopra, the reigning world champion and two-time Olympic medallist, has officially secured his place in the 2025 Diamond League Final scheduled to take place in Zurich, Switzerland, on the 27th and 28th of this month. Despite missing the recent Silesia leg of the competition, Chopra’s earlier performances this year have been strong enough to guarantee his qualification.

The qualification standings released on Saturday after the Silesia leg confirmed that Chopra has collected a total of 15 points from just two appearances and will join the top contenders in the men’s javelin throw final.

In the current standings, Trinidad and Tobago’s Keshorn Walcott leads with 17 points from three events. Neeraj Chopra and Germany’s Julian Weber are tied for second place with 15 points each.

Chopra delivered a remarkable throw of 88.16m to win the Paris leg earlier in the season. He also set a new national record with a massive 90.23m in Doha, where he finished second behind Julian Weber.

Other top athletes like Anderson Peters and Luiz Mauricio Da Silva also remain in contention for a spot in the final. Neeraj Chopra previously won the Diamond League title in 2022 and secured runner-up finishes in both 2023 and 2024. However, fans are still waiting for an official confirmation of his participation in the Zurich event.
