Parakram Diwas 2026: Remembering Netaji’s Enduring Vision
Addressing the gathering, the Vice President described Netaji as a great son of Bharat whose contribution extended far beyond the freedom struggle. He said Netaji not only fought fearlessly against colonial rule but also envisioned a post-Independence India that would be strong, self-reliant, and free from poverty.
He underlined that Netaji’s ideas on governance, national unity, and self-confidence remain deeply relevant in modern India.
Inspiration from INA and the Call for Viksit Bharat
Recalling the iconic Indian National Army marching song “Kadam Kadam Badhaye Ja”, the Vice President said Netaji’s ideals of courage, unity, and supreme dedication to the motherland continue to guide the nation.
He urged citizens to draw strength from Netaji’s spirit of parakram (valour) and work collectively towards the national vision of Viksit Bharat @2047.
Odisha’s Cultural Legacy and Development Path
The Vice President noted that Odisha occupies a special place in India’s civilisational history, where culture, spirituality, and heritage converge. He praised the state government’s efforts in tribal welfare, improving living standards, and strengthening infrastructure.
With sustained good governance, he said, Odisha has the potential to emerge as one of India’s leading states in the years ahead.
Netaji’s Revolutionary Spirit and Odisha’s Resilience
Reflecting on Odisha’s long history of resistance and resilience, the Vice President said the state’s spirit resonated deeply with Netaji’s revolutionary path. He observed that a land which preserved its identity over centuries truly understands Netaji’s message—that freedom is achieved through courage and unity, not submission.
Prime Minister’s Message and National Recognition for Netaji
A recorded address by Prime Minister Narendra Modi was played during the ceremony. The Vice President highlighted that the Prime Minister ensured due national honour for Netaji by declaring his birth anniversary as Parakram Diwas in 2021 and renaming Ross Island as Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Dweep.

Personal Tribute and New Cultural Initiatives
Sharing a personal reflection, the Vice President said Netaji’s life story was the first to ignite patriotic fervour in his heart and inspired his lifelong commitment to public service.
As part of the celebrations, he inaugurated the INA Postal Stamp Gallery, an exhibition organised by the Ministry of Culture, and the Netaji Sanskruti Bhawan.
