PM Modi Arrives in Brazil for 17th BRICS Summit in Rio de Janeiro

Published on

Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Rio de Janeiro today to participate in the 17th BRICS Summit. Following the summit, he is scheduled to visit Brasilia for bilateral talks with Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva, aimed at deepening cooperation in trade, defence, energy, space, technology, agriculture, health, and cultural ties.

Warm Welcome by Indian Diaspora in Brazil

PM Modi received an enthusiastic reception from the Indian community in Brazil. As has become tradition during his overseas visits, members of the Indian diaspora gathered in large numbers outside his hotel in Rio to welcome him with chants of “Bharat Mata Ki Jai” and “Modi Modi.”

Women dressed in traditional attire performed Kathak as a tribute to India’s armed forces, especially in celebration of the success of Operation Sindhoor. A local Brazilian group named Astra Light also welcomed the Prime Minister by chanting mantras and singing devotional songs, adding a unique cultural touch to the welcome ceremony.

BRICS Deliberations and Bilateral Talks Scheduled

According to the local time in Brazil, PM Modi will participate in crucial deliberations on the BRICS agenda tomorrow morning. He will also hold several bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the summit. This marks his fourth visit to Brazil, underlining India’s growing engagement with the South American nation.
