Varanasi: In a major boost to his parliamentary constituency, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday inaugurated and laid foundation stones for multiple development projects worth ₹2,200 crore in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh. The Prime Minister also released the 20th installment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme, transferring ₹21,000 crore directly to the accounts of over 9.7 crore farmers across India.

PM Modi Pays Tribute After ‘Operation Sindoor’

Beginning his address with spiritual fervor, Modi said,

“Om Namah Parvati Pataye, Har Har Mahadev,”

He emotionally recalled the Pahalgam terror attack that occurred on April 22, killing 26 civilians.

“The grief of those children and women deeply pained me,” he said. “I promised my daughters I would avenge their ‘Sindoor’, and with Mahadev’s blessings, we succeeded.”

He dedicated the success of Operation Sindoor to Lord Shiva, emphasizing national unity as a key reason behind the operation’s execution.

Massive PM-KISAN Transfer: Farmers Get ₹21,000 Crore

Highlighting the empowerment of farmers, PM Modi announced that ₹21,000 crore has been transferred to 9.7 crore farmers under the 20th PM-KISAN installment, stating:

“When the amount is transferred from Kashi, it becomes a divine prasad.”

He celebrated farmers as the backbone of India and underscored the government’s continued commitment to their welfare.

Connectivity Boost: Road, Rail, and Power Projects Launched

To improve urban and regional infrastructure, PM Modi inaugurated and launched several connectivity and power-related projects:

  • Widening and strengthening of major roads, including the Varanasi–Bhadohi and Chhitauni–Shool Tankeshwar roads.
  • Inauguration of a railway overbridge at Hardattpur, aimed at easing traffic congestion on the Mohan Sarai–Adalpura route.
  • Foundation stones laid for road upgrades in Dalmandi, Lahartara–Kotwa, Gangapur, and Babatpur.

Urban Infrastructure and Power Modernisation Worth ₹880 Crore

To enhance Varanasi’s urban environment and secure its electricity network, PM Modi launched power projects worth ₹880 crore, including:

  • Smart Distribution Project
  • Undergrounding of overhead cables, ensuring safer and aesthetically improved infrastructure

Preserving Heritage and Tourism Promotion

With a focus on Varanasi’s cultural identity, Modi unveiled projects aimed at boosting tourism and preserving historical sites:

  • Redevelopment of 8 riverfront Kuccha Ghats
  • Beautification of Rangildas Kutiya pond and ghat in Shivpur
  • Restoration of Durgakund
  • Renovation of Kardameshwar Mahadev Temple
  • Development of Karkhiyaon, birthplace of freedom fighters
  • Redevelopment of Munshi Premchand’s ancestral home in Lamahi into a museum

Recalling his recent visit to Gangaikonda Cholapuram Temple in Tamil Nadu, Modi praised King Rajendra Chola for symbolizing India’s unity through Shaiva traditions.

“1,000 years ago, Rajendra Chola brought Ganga water from North India to Tamil Nadu. That was ‘Ek Bharat, Shreshth Bharat’ in action,” he said.

He emphasized how initiatives like Kashi-Tamil Sangamam build on that civilizational unity.

PM Modi’s Varanasi visit marked not only the launch of transformative infrastructure projects and welfare schemes but also underscored his vision of national unity, spiritual heritage, and grassroots development. From aiding farmers to honoring ancient temples, the Prime Minister reinforced his message of development rooted in culture and service.
