New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi today paid homage to Acharya Vinoba Bhave on his birth anniversary, remembering his immense contributions to India’s freedom movement, social reforms, and spiritual awakening.
In a message shared on X (formerly Twitter), the Prime Minister said:
Acharya Vinoba Bhave (1895–1982), a disciple of Mahatma Gandhi, is remembered as the pioneer of the Bhoodan Movement (Land Gift Movement), through which he encouraged landowners to voluntarily donate land to the landless. He was awarded the Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian honour, in 1983 posthumously.
The Prime Minister underlined that Bhave’s commitment to truth, non-violence, and selfless service continues to inspire generations working towards a more just and equitable society.
