Rahul Gandhi Slams Government Over Festive Train Chaos in Bihar

Published on

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi has strongly criticized the government for its failure to manage railway travel during the ongoing festive season. He highlighted the plight of millions of people traveling to Bihar for Diwali, Bhai Dooj, and Chhath Puja, calling the situation “inhumane and chaotic.”

In a message shared on his WhatsApp channel, Gandhi wrote, “It’s the month of festivals — Diwali, Bhai Dooj, Chhath. In Bihar, these festivals mean returning home to family and loved ones. However, this longing has turned into a struggle.”

He pointed out that overcrowded trains have become a distressing reality, with passengers reportedly exceeding capacity by 200 percent, some even clinging to doors and rooftops in dangerous conditions.

Rahul Gandhi Criticizes Rail Mismanagement During Chhath Travel Rush

Calling the government’s claim of operating 12,000 special trains “hollow,” Rahul Gandhi said the situation reflects gross mismanagement and negligence. He questioned why travel conditions worsen each year despite repeated promises of improvement.

“The government must answer why people from Bihar continue to face such humiliating journeys. If there were enough jobs and dignity at home, they wouldn’t have to travel thousands of kilometers,” he said, holding the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) accountable for the crisis.

‘Safe Travel Is a Right, Not a Favour’: Gandhi’s Sharp Remarks

Rahul Gandhi emphasized that those traveling in unsafe conditions are not helpless passengers but “living evidence of the NDA’s failed policies and broken promises.” He asserted that safe and dignified travel is every citizen’s right, not a privilege granted by the government.

Festive Season Exposes Infrastructure Gaps in Indian Railways

The Congress leader’s remarks come amid growing concerns over the hardship faced by migrant workers and commuters during the festive season. The chaos has reignited discussions on the need for improved railway infrastructure, better crowd management, and long-term employment opportunities within home states to reduce migration pressures.
