Ranthambore’s Iconic Tigress Arrowhead Passes Away at 14, Her Final Walk Captured on Camera
Ranthambore: One of Ranthambore National Park’s most iconic tigers, Tigress Arrowhead (T-84), has passed away at the age of 14, marking the end of a legendary chapter in India’s wildlife history. Her death came just hours after her daughter was relocated to a different tiger reserve, a moment that emotionally closed the legacy of a proud lineage.
A Poignant Farewell Captured on Film
Renowned wildlife photographer Sachin Rai, who had documented Arrowhead’s life since she was a cub, captured her final moments near Padam Talab on June 17. In an emotional post on Instagram, Rai shared the heartbreaking experience of watching her take a few labored steps before collapsing under a tree.
“Each movement was a visible effort; even walking ten steps seemed an enormous task… I knew in my heart that the end was near,” Rai wrote.
A Storied Legacy of Strength and Grace
Arrowhead was born to tigress Krishna (T-19) and was the granddaughter of the legendary Machhli (T-16) — often referred to as the “Queen of Ranthambore.” Arrowhead inherited not only her mother’s territory but also her legacy of strength, resilience, and charisma.
The End of a Legendary Bloodline
Officials revealed that Arrowhead had been suffering from advanced bone cancer and had been under close observation in the weeks leading up to her death. Her passing not only marks the loss of a celebrated tigress but also brings to a close the lineage of Ranthambore’s most famous tiger family.
Remembered by Wildlife Enthusiasts Worldwide
The wildlife community and conservationists mourn her loss deeply. Arrowhead was not just a symbol of Ranthambore but a story of wild majesty that resonated with tiger lovers across the globe.
