Mumbai: Son Of Sardaar 2, featuring Ajay Devgn and Mrunal Thakur, opened to a lacklustre start at the Indian box office on its first day. Despite being a sequel to the successful 2012 comedy Son Of Sardaar, the film underperformed, registering just ₹8 crore net on Day 1 — the lowest among Ajay Devgn’s post-COVID sequels.

Directed by Vijay Kumar Arora, the film released on August 1 and received mixed to negative reviews from critics. Audiences too gave it a lukewarm response, with many citing the absence of genuine humour that made the first film a hit.
Pre-release promotions failed to generate buzz, and the film struggled with just 23% occupancy throughout the day. Night shows marginally boosted collections, preventing a worse outcome.
