UIDAI Partners with Starlink to Enable Aadhaar-Based e-KYC for Satellite Internet Users

Published on

The Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) has entered into a landmark partnership with Starlink Satellite Communications Pvt Ltd to enable Aadhaar-based customer verification for its users in India. The agreement will allow Starlink to conduct secure, paperless e-KYC authentication using Aadhaar, making the onboarding process both compliant and seamless.

Starlink has now been formally recognised as a Sub-Authentication User Agency (Sub-AUA) and Sub-eKYC User Agency (Sub-eKUA), which grants the company access to Aadhaar e-KYC services for voluntary customer verification.

UIDAI–Starlink Partnership Enables Aadhaar-Based e-KYC on Satellite Services

Under the partnership, Starlink will be able to leverage UIDAI’s Aadhaar authentication and e-KYC capabilities to verify customer identity digitally. According to UIDAI officials, the move is a significant step in promoting secure and user-friendly onboarding processes for emerging technology providers in India.

Aadhaar Becomes Key Component of India’s Digital Infrastructure

A UIDAI spokesperson noted that Aadhaar has evolved into the foundational layer of the nation’s digital public infrastructure, helping both citizens and businesses access services with ease. UIDAI’s face authentication and e-KYC services are increasingly being adopted by public and private entities for their efficiency and reliability.

Starlink to Leverage e-KYC for Faster and Compliant Customer Onboarding

The new arrangement allows Starlink to offer faster and more transparent onboarding for its satellite broadband customers, in line with India’s KYC regulations. The company can use Aadhaar-based digital identification to securely complete customer authentication without the need for physical documents.

A Big Boost for Digital India and Satellite Connectivity

Officials said the collaboration demonstrates the scalability of India’s digital identity framework and its ability to support global tech providers such as Starlink. By integrating with Aadhaar, satellite-based services like high-speed internet can now be delivered with enhanced accountability, regulatory compliance and user convenience.
